Benefits of Hydroseeding

Hydroseeding is the process of combining seed, mulch, fertilizer, and soil amendments with water. This mix is called a slurry, which is then applied with pressure into the soil by a hydroseeder for grass seed germination.

  • Hydroseeding is without a doubt the most cost-effective way to establish a new lawn if you want to avoid the expense, time-consumption, material cost, or installation demands of sodding or traditional hand-seeding methods.
  • This method costs 50- 75 % less than the price of sod (including labor cost for installation). On average, the “traditional hand-sown lawn” takes 60-80 % longer to put in than hydroseeding does.
  • A hydroseeded lawn is much healthier and greener. It also has a more deeply-established root system than a newly sodded lawn does.
  • A sod lawn has a chance of shock occurring when being transplanted into foreign soils. A newly hydroseeded lawn is more resistant to environmental changes because it quickly and easily adjusts to the current soil conditions.
  • Hydroseeding provides a thicker, more even disbursement of seed, fertilizer, soil amendments, and mulch that will retain up to 10 times its weight in water.
  • It’s terrific for erosion control. It helps to bind the soil up and prevent against erosion from excessive rain, wind, sun, and birds. The slurry of mulch, tackifiers, seed, and soil conditioners bind to the soil.
  • Hydroseeding is the most advantageous way to cover large and difficult areas such as slopes and large parcels of land.
  • This method has a faster germination time than other lawn methods. Hydroseeding will not necessarily give you the same WOW factor that a sod lawn will. But a properly hydroseeded (and continually watered) lawn will begin growing in about 5 to 7 days. Under normal conditions, it will be ready to mow within 3-4 weeks.
  • Hydroseeding is a completely non-toxic and safe way to grow grass. It is harmless to kids, pets, and the environment.
